LEARN CHESS MUMBAI, formerly known as Paul Morphy Chess Academy, is in the fore-front of chess coaching in Mumbai since 2000.
It was founded with the aim of imparting systematic and methodical coaching along with spreading awareness about the game by conducting regular chess activities like coaching camps, free awareness drives, tournaments, simultaneous exhibitions, theme based workshops etc.
Fide Instructor (FI) Prasad Deshmukh, a World Chess Federation (FIDE) Certified & Licensed Coach, is the Founder of PMCA.
He started his coaching career in 1994 with a camp on behalf of the Bombay Chess Association at Elphinstone College in south Mumbai. Since then he has coached close to 2000 students.
Students have crossed the 2000 Elo Point (International Rating) mark under his tutelage.
He is an Internationally Rated chess-player & was awarded the title of 'National Arbiter' by the All India Chess Federation in the year 1996.
He was the Bombay University Chess Champion in 1994 and the Captain of the University team in 1995.
Based upon his performance in the Chennai FIDE Trainers' & Instructors' Seminar, 2008, he was awarded the title of 'FIDE Instructor' by World Chess Federation.
Mrs. Preeti Deshmukh, the co-founder of PMCA, is a former Bombay University Chess Champion (Girls') and an experienced chess-coach. She has been an active coach since 2000 and many of her students have done well at the inter-school level.
She specializes in teaching very young children and there is never a dull moment in her class.
Mr. Chittaranjan Kolambkar is an Internationally-Rated player. A veteran of many open, state, national and international events, he is a tournament-hardened campaigner. He has a huge experience of almost 25 years in competitive chess and has immense knowledge of the game especially, the openings. He has a flair for chess-teaching and has an amazing ‘connect’ with kids. He isknown for his soft, sensitive yet skillful approach towards students.
