Children's Film Making Course
Space Time Trains is offering a Hands-On Film-making course for children, which combines a fundamental understanding of camera technology, the history of filmmaking and practically translating an idea into a film.
1. Topics and Medium:
Six 3-hour sessions spanned over 6 days of interactive lecture-demonstration & hands on exercises with optical toys, still cameras, basic photography using different light conditions; early cinema techniques, and making a cinematic sequence in video.
We will be providing professional cameras and editing set ups to work on, to familiarize the children with the basic tools available to them, and to make good quality of work in the process.
Each student will work individually as well as in groups and the course is based strongly on individual attention and interaction with the mentors to develop the child’s own unique understanding of the film craft.
At the end of the workshop each child would have completed a Photo Series, a single shot video, and a cinematic sequence or a ‘short film’. In addition, they will have a familiarity with film technology, technique and history. They will receive specially designed study material as notes to refer to in future.
Finally, they will receive a certificate of the course completion.
With photo and video becoming their first playthings, Space Time Trains wants to engage children with this medium as a new language or tool of imagination at an age when they pick up a new language the best.
Space Time Trains wants to enable children to engage with the medium consciously, thoughtfully and make full use of its potential.
4. Know the Mentors:
Space Time Trains is envisioned by Sanyukta Sharma & Anirban Datta , both practicing filmmakers and graduates of the two national film schools FTII Pune & SRFTI Kolkata. Both of their films have achieved numerous national and international awards and accolades and both have intensions and inclination towards film academics.
Anirban was also teaching as an Asst. Professor in the Film Direction and Screenplay Dept. at FTII Pune.
