We provide a balanced approach to learning, giving you the peace of mind that your child will have fun as they develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. There are seven areas of learning that shape our educational programmes to the child. Communication and Language Giving children the opportunities to experience a rich language environment, become skilful communicators, express themselves, and to speak and listen in a range of situations. Children are also encouraged to use speech to organize sequence and clarify thinking ideas, feeling and events. For children with English as an additional language, extra tools such as story sacks, felt stories an flash cards are used to facilitate language and communication. Physical Development Providing opportunities for children to be active and interactive, and to develop their coordination, contact, movement and manipulation. We help children understand the importance of physical activity and to make healthy choices. Outside play is used to build confidence, cooperative skills, increase social awareness and develop hand eye coordination. Swimming and ball skills are taught to develop balancing skills, coordination and control to assist general physical development and promote a positive interest in caring for our environment. Personal, Social and Emotional Development Helping children develop a positive sense of themselves and others, to form positive relationships and develop respect for others. The children learn how to manage their feelings and to help understand appropriate behavior groups as well as to have confidence in their own abilities. Children start to understand the difference between right and wrong, sharing, being able to dress and undress, take an interest in a variety of activities, and have the self-confidence to try new things. Literacy Giving children access to a wide range of reading material to ignite their interests (books, poems and other written materials). It also involves helping children to link sounds and letters to begin to read and write. Mathematics Involves developing the mathematical skills used in a broad range of contexts. Children are able to develop understanding and using numbers, and describe shape, space and measures. Understanding of the World Guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment. Children are offered opportunities to use a range of tools safely as well as encounter creatures, people, plants and objects in their natural environment and in real life situations. They undertake experiments and work with a range of materials and everyday technologies, including ICT, cameras, CD players, programmable toys and how they are used. Expressive Arts and Design Children experiment with media and materials, as well as manipulate or modify them, exploring sound, patterns, movement and different tools. Developing with Us We give your child endless opportunities to grow, learn and imagine, whether building a spaceship to blast off to Mars or inviting a new friend to share a toy with.
