Hamsakutira, an institute that commenced in 2003, is a Music school imparting Carnatic music intelligence to normal and special learners. It is an Institution set up solely with the noble aim of awareness and promotion of fine arts in the society especially amongst the youth, to understand, appreciate and carry forth the purity of Indian music to the forthcoming generations and to exemplify the strong significance and benefits through the therapeutic powers of classical music to all children. The Institution has been operating for more than a decade now and holds its center currently at the hub of Malleshwaram. The institute has trained students across different cultures and countries including Malaysian and srilankan students. The institute trains young children from the age group of 4 onwards and also includes passionate adults in their late fifties. Hamsakutira imparts both Carnatic classical vocal and Carnatic veena training for all age groups. Currently the institute is engaged in Conducting several workshops, seminars, AradhanaMahotsavas involving several musicians Creating opportunities for students and young artists to develop their potential through study and performance Offering free training to talents from financially/ socially backward, rural category Recognizing hidden talents amongst specially challenged individuals and train them accordingly Conducting musical programs at old age homes, hospitals by adapting methods of music therapy Offering many awareness programmes on Music therapy and child mental health by way of paper presentations, TV talks, conferences, press releases etc. Conducting music therapy sessions for differently –abled children across different NGOs.Autistic, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, Learning disability, Mentally retarde etc.. Our Speciality: The school specializes in imparting musical intelligence to all, and especially children with a strong emphasis on inculcating human values and a strong character driven personality with a spiritual and philosophical essence. trains students to perceive music with an holistic approach, For e.g, Music as a medium of expression, self analysis, self-realisation and self-growth, tool to self confidence.. We strongly belive in -“The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate ""apparently ordinary"" people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners: it is in making winners out of ordinary people.” -Patricia Cross Every individual is unique with his or her own set of strengths and weaknesses. I strongly believe that we are all born with a music instinct. Music is innate. We are from the womb of a mother whose heart beat flows into us. Unfortunately a strong discipline called music has been removed from our academic syllabus inspite of research having proven time and again that multiple intelligences can be developed strongly through music. Music is the perfect therapy to attain emotional intelligence. Music can inculcate a strong set of values which can help handle life better as we pass through various stages of life. Classical music has the ability to train the brain for higher levels of thinking, problem solving, arriving at conclusions, comparing and contrasting, analysing, synthesising and evaluating information. The specially challenged individuals benefit a lot from music therapy intervention as it helps them follow an alternative route in their path of survival and excellence..helps control aggression, improves concentration and memory, reduces suicidal tendencies, improve communication skills and eye contact, etc.Research speaks loud and clear that learning must include the whole brain activity to reach an individual's fullest potential. The parts of the brain that academic schools fail to develop are the creative areas that we use for imagination and postulating ideas and for dealing with complexity and ambiguity. Creative abilities eventually lead us to generate new ideas and discoveries, vital qualities that our nation was built on and will continue to need for the next centuries..
